Springfield Reformed Church!

On more than one occasion, we have heard people ask, “What does the word ‘Reformed’ mean in Springfield Reformed Church?” Let us explain. The word ‘Reformed’ finds its roots in the 16th century Protestant Reformation—a time when the Church was re-formed in order to once again be conformed to the teachings of Christ and the Bible. It was a time of great upheaval in the church but it was also a time of much needed transformation that produced many outstanding statements of faith.

We believe the need for transformation still continues. In an age of unbelief and immorality outside of the church and doctrinal ignorance in the church, we desire the pursuit of modern reformation. We invite you to further discover the riches of the Reformed tradition of the Christian faith!

Quote of the Day

“Too many Protestants forget that the Christian faith is older and wider that the particular expression of it developed in the Reformation. The great Protestant Reformers claimed strong links to the church fathers. This is as it should be, if the church is really a world Christian movement.”

— William Edgar
